Creating digital learning modules

ESOL literacy and Grammar – Development of two learning modules using Articulate Storyline for a) teachers teaching Basic Literacy to ESOL learners and b) English teachers to support ESOL learners in their GCSE/Functional skills classes with grammar using content provided by Learning Unlimited (ETF).

Video Learning for Engineering Apprentices – GTA England’s Engineering Apprentices’ Mate app, a point, and play augmented reality learning experience. The Right Place: Develop four interactive modules using Articulate Storyline and content provided by MENCAP to support those working with students with SEND to widen access to work placements (ETF/MENCAP).

Applying your digital skills in teaching and learning – Create seven online modules using Xerte and Storyline articulate. Writing the content and developing the learning object, covering the topics of Social media; Virtual meeting technology; Video learning; Assessment for learning; Digital skills for the workplace; Differentiation; Introduction to digital content, creation, and design (ETF/Careers College).

Maths and English learning objects – Write content and development of fifteen learning objects (10 maths 5 English) for engineering apprentices using Storyline Articulate (AELP/UFI).

Using digital technology in teaching and learning

First Step Trust (FST) – FST is a charity with more than 25 years’ experience of providing training and work opportunities for those people with severe mental health problems, and other disadvantages, who are furthest from the labour market. FST’s social enterprise projects include commercial garages. This UFI SMaRT Pathways project aimed to investigate how technologies such as AR/VR coul dbe used within the Virtual Garage. We provided project support,  carried out a needs analysis capturing the range of learning and assessment needs of workforce members to inform the product design. Design and carryout pilot product evaluation.

Essential Digital Skills Project: Write and deliver 8 EDS focused webinars.

Digital enhancement programme – Project manage and develop the eight Digital Skills Booster courses, part of the ETF Digital skills enhancement programme (ETF/Creative Education).

Mentoring support for OTLA – Providing mentoring support for four projects undertaking OTLA collaborative digital projects (ETF/Creative Education).

Video Learning for Engineering Apprentices – Working with PETA Limited, a work-based learning provider, on a Learning Futures action research project. The project developed the digital literacy skills of Engineering Instructors to enable them to create video learning hotspots for the engineering workshop areas using Quick Response (QR) codes and Augmented Reality. Our role was to project manage, train, and coach.

Learning technologies development with HOLEX – Project management of the HOLEX Learning Technologies Development project. A 6 month contract to 105 Community Learning and Skills providers during which we planned and delivering national events, webinars and support intervention to individual providers. As well as writing case studies bespoke to the needs of HOLEX members we wrote a series of learning technology blogs to help inspire and highlight the practice of practitioners. REPORT

Website support and management

Website management – Management of both the SEND (https://send.excellencegateway.org.uk/) and Offender Learning (https://offender-learning.excellencegateway.org.uk/) Exhibition websites, including a redesign of both sites (ETF).

VLE training and support – Our experience includes Moodle, MoodleRooms, Blackboard, and Canvas. The type of support given varies from strategic advice, training (face-to-face, blended and online) and administration support (designing and setting up course areas, plugins, responding to user queries and enrolling learners). Ideas4Learning has provided VLE training and support to a number of providers including Manchester Adult Education Service, PETA Limited, Peter Symonds College, Portsmouth City Council, Royal National College for the Blind, and Babcock International Group’s Royal Navy Apprenticeship Centre.

Webinar support – Provide Zoom advice, training and support for Conferences (Nalegro) and webinars (PSC/ETF/Vanarama).
